CAN transmit

Off = listen-only: the board never transmits. Must be on for keep-alive and contactor control.

Status: --

Keep-alive (vehicle frames)

Sends the frames the pack expects from the rest of the car, with contactors kept open.

Status: --

Contactors

--

Closing needs TX on, keep-alive on, fresh pack data, HVIL OK and all limits OK. The firmware opens the contactors by itself only on a pack-reported fault or a limit below.

Settings, safety limits & logging

Read-only: the contactors are never closed and keep-alive is not sent. SOC comes from the pack voltage (averaged over about a minute). Keep CAN TX enabled so the pack sends live data.

Firmware / uptime--
ESP-NOW (WiFi channel)--

The relay module pairs by itself over ESP-NOW: no WiFi setup, password or IP address. Power it up within range and it appears here within a few seconds.

Generator setup

1. Wiring

2. When to run (AUTO)

The voltage must stay past the start or stop level for 30 s, so short load dips don't start it. While charging, the pack reads higher than at rest, so it stops a little earlier than the resting voltage suggests.

Brick voltage 0 = not used. AUTO never starts or stops on simulated or missing pack data.

3. Start sequence

How S1 stops the engine

4. Start check

After cranking, the start counts once the pack sees this much charge current for 3 s. Otherwise the attempt failed: it rests, retries, and after the last retry shows a FAULT until you clear it. 0 A = don't check (every start counts as good, so it never retries).

Safety

If the relay hears nothing from the BMS for this long it switches everything off (0 = hold). The crank output is always cut by the relay itself after the crank time + 2 s, or 1.5 s after the link drops.

Firmware

Contactors must be open. If new firmware fails to start, the board goes back to the previous version by itself.

Remote access (freedomenergysystems.com)

Status--
Account--
Board ID--

The board makes one encrypted outbound connection, so no port forwarding is needed. With control turned off the website can only view, and it can only be turned back on from the board's own page on your network.

WiFi

Network--
IP--
Signal--
Fallback AP--

The board tries the new network for up to 90 seconds and keeps it only if it connects and reaches this site again; otherwise it goes back to the current one.

Login & admin password

Login required for this page--

The password is always needed for firmware updates (/update and OTA uploads, user admin). After changing it, update ota_password in secrets.ini on each PC you upload from.

Simulation--

Simulation feeds synthetic pack frames to the dashboard only (nothing is transmitted). It stops by itself when real CAN traffic arrives.

History

Long-term history (pack voltage, state of charge, power, energy in and out, every cell group's drift, temperatures and generator run time, kept for months and years) is recorded by the Freedom Energy Systems server, not by this board.

Link this BMS to your account on the System page, then open it from freedomenergysystems.com/app and choose History. Recording starts as soon as the board is online.

Cell groups

Each row is a cell group, and time runs left to right. In "vs median", a group that keeps drifting shows as a red (high) or blue (low) streak. "Voltage" shows the whole pack charging and discharging. Hover for values, click a row to chart that group.
